Synopsis
Vienna, November 1823. In the middle of the night, an eccentric old man exclaims this amazing confession: « Forgive, Mozart! Forgive your murderer! ». This ghost is Antonio Salieri, once famous musician and official composer of the Court. Since childhood he has entirely devoted himself to the service of God, committing himself to celebrate the divine through his music — at the price of incessant labor. In return for his innumerable sacrifices, he demanded eternal glory. His talent, recognized by the music-loving Emperor Joseph II, earned Salieri the highest distinction for a few years. But in 1781 a young man arrived at Vienna, preceded by a flattering reputation. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart became the greatest composer of the century. Realizing the threat posed to him by this arrogant gifted man of whom he admires his profound genius, Salieri tries to oust him.
