Synopsis

Playtime is structured in six sequences, linked by two characters who repeatedly encounter one another in the course of a day: Barbara, a young American tourist visiting Paris and Monsieur Hulot, a befuddled Frenchman lost in the new modernity of Paris.
He curiously wanders around a high-tech Paris, paralleling a trip with a group of American tourists. Meanwhile, a nightclub-restaurant prepares for its opening night, but it is still under construction.
