Synopsis
This is the tale of Touko Laaksonen, better known as Tom of Finland. Freshly decorated for his service during the World War II, Laaksonen returns home to live with his sister Kaija. Like many men of his time, he keeps his homosexuality secret. The hostility and homophobia that prevailed in Helsinki lead him to withdraw further. He takes refuge in his art, the only place where he can be himself and let his drives and his creativity run free. It is in this state of mind that creates the numerous emblematic characters that would go on to mark the gay community – first in secret, in his city and around it, then eventually on a global scale.
