Synopsis

Singer-songwriter Zachary Richard questions the relevance of Acadian identity today. He traces back the fascinating journey of those who preceded it, traveling through the three maritime provinces and Louisiana, seeking to understand how history has shaped its Acadian culture. Zachary made amazing discoveries about his own ancestors, the Richard and the Boudreaux, who lived in Acadia for a century and a half before opposing the British occupants, thus defeating the deportations of 1755 and 1758. He visis for the first time the old Acadian villages of his ancestors, then the three refugee camps where they had to survive the famine. Finally captured and imprisoned on George Island in Halifax, his ancestors were part of the first major migration wave to Louisiana. In a Louisiana that has been considerably mixed for 250 years, Zachary asks his entourage about the relevance of belonging to their roots. Despite the many painful events of its history, will the "battler" Zachary come to reconcile with his past to forgive his tormentors and face the future?
